In the Chinese province of Sichuan, children walk for up to five hours along the steep slopes of the Dadu River gorge to reach their primary school. China is a country of great contrasts. It is currently engaged in a rapid process of transformation and recently became an international development donor. In China, <strong>GIZ</strong> works on behalf of several German ministries and other public-sector commissioning parties, as well as for the European Union and the Asian Development Bank, often with the involvement of the private sector.
