To inspire (oneself) upon getting up at night<br />
<strong>The</strong> Sheikh, the Imam, the learned, the virtuous in religion [Affifuddin]<br />
<strong>and</strong> who is a blessing for the Muslims, Abu Muhammad, Abdullah bin<br />
Abdurrahman bin Abi Bakr Balhaaj Ba Fadhal quotes the following<br />
verses of the Quran in his book entitled “<strong>The</strong> Light <strong>and</strong> Guidance of the<br />
<strong>Secrets</strong> of Getting Up at <strong>Night</strong> <strong>and</strong> the period before day break”<br />
(relating to the excellence of Qiyam <strong>and</strong> the merits of those people, who<br />
perform Qiyamul Layl on a regular basis.)<br />
Allah S.W.T said in Surah 17 Al’Isra Verse 78-79<br />
‰∆A‰’ÊjÛ≥‰À ¯ΩÊŒ˙ªA ¯µ‰nÚ´ ”ÚªḠ ōÊ¿ÏrªA Í∫ÃÛªÂfͪ Ú—Ú›ÏvªA ¯¡Í≥ÚC<br />

78. Establish regular prayers - at the sun’s decline till the darkness of<br />
the night <strong>and</strong> the morning’s prayer <strong>and</strong> readings: for the prayer <strong>and</strong><br />
reading in the morning carry their testimony.<br />
79. And pray in the small watches of the morning (it would be an<br />
additional prayer (of spiritual benefit) for you, soon will Your Lord raise<br />
you to a station of praise <strong>and</strong> glory.”<br />
