Voice for Life
Newly Revised and Updated!
RSCM’s core educational program, Voice for Life, was designed to support and promote singing in churches, schools, and other communities.
Voice for Life now offers five levels of vocal training materials for beginning through advanced singers that will enable you to encourage and
develop a singing culture in your choir. All singers, child and adult alike, will develop skills in five core areas: using the voice well, musical skills
and understanding; repertoire, belonging to the choir, and choir in context.
During 2012,Voice for Life resources and training materials are being revised
including full integration of the White Level.
Since its launch in 1999, Voice for Life has become established in countless choirs around the world. The Singer’s Workbooks and Choir Trainer’s Book
were first published in 2004. Since publication, RSCM has listened to singers and choir trainers who have used the scheme, and during 2012 they
will be revising the materials and publishing a number of new books that are sure to enhance the scheme, making it easier and more enjoyable to use.
The Choir Trainer’s Book is being expanded to incorporate the White Level, and targets and activities for subsequent levels have been amended
slightly to take into account the learning that takes place within the new level. The addition of the White Level has presented the opportunity to
look carefully at the content of the subsequent levels, making changes to both the content of the level and the presentation of the work possible.
Some of the exercises in the singers’ workbooks have been completely reworked, with the aim of producing an even more comprehensive and
flexible resource. The revisions are scheduled for completion by the end of 2012.

The Choir Trainer’s Book:
With more than 300 pages, this book contains all the teaching material, guidance notes, and practical
advice needed to train and assess singers with confidence at all five levels. Includes reproducible
pages for lessons with singers.

The Singer’s Workbooks:
Each workbook (one for each of five levels) includes interactive questions, exercises, puzzles, quotes from singers, voice care tips, and more!
Targets and goals are clearly defined, with a space for the director to sign off when a goal is completed.
