Lake Erie
Lake Erie has 842 (525 Canadian, 317 U. S.) tributaries. 21 (11 Canadian, 10 U. S.) tributaries have historical
records of sea lamprey larvae production, and of these, 8 (3 Canadian, 5 U. S.) tributaries have been treated with
lampricide at least once during 1994-2003. 5 (2 Canadian, 3 U. S.) tributaries are treated on a regular cycle.
Table 5 provides details on the application of lampricides to tributaries treated during 2003 and Fig. 1 shows the
locations of the tributaries. In 2003:
• Lampricide treatments were completed in 3 Lake Erie tributaries (1 Canadian, 2 U. S.); and,
• Treatment of the Grand River produced minimal mortality of organisms from several sensitive species that
include mudpuppies (Necturus maculosus), brindled madtoms (Noturus miurus), bullheads (Ameiurus sp.), and
logperch (Percina caprodes).
