FOOD MINISTRY James and Charlotte Barrett are coordinating our new Food Ministry. Our next community meal (soup kitchen), food pantry and resource table will be June 18 from noon to 3:00pm. If you would like to volunteer or donate food, please contact James and/or Charlotte at 410-944-6413. ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS Will you graduate from high school or complete your GED this year? Are you a member of Mount Olive UMC? If the answer is “yes”, then the Endowment Committee would like to hear from you. LUNCH BUNCH – JUNE 8 Come on out for lunch! Meet on the church parking lot at 11:00 am, and carpool to Red Lobster. Sign up on the bulletin board between the church offices. DINNER BUNCH – JULY 2 The June Dinner Bunch has been rescheduled due to UMW Meeting on 6.25. Please meet on the church parking lot at 3:00 pm, on July 2 and carpool to Peppermill. Sign up on the bulletin board between the church offices. CHARITY CIRCLE The Charity Circle will meet on Wednesday, June 1 in the parlor at 7:00pm. HOPE CIRCLE The Hope Circle will meet every second Wednesday of the month at 10:30am, in the Church Parlor. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8. NEW SUMMER WORSHIP SERVICE We will begin a new summer worship service beginning June 5. Tentatively called the “Khakis and Cut-offs” service, this casual worship service will begin at 8am and will give people another worship choice. The 8am “Khakis and Cutoffs” service will meet in the historic chapel and our 10:30am worship service will continue in the sanctuary. Please pray for the success of this new worship opportunity. FAITH CIRCLE The Faith Circle will meet on Monday, June 13 at 11am in the parking lot. We will carpool from there to the Candlelight Inn for lunch. The United Methodist General Meeting will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 4:00pm in the parlor. Charity Circle will have the program and refreshments. All women of the church are invited to join us. Peace with Justice Sunday is June 19, 2011. Your generous gift to support this special Sunday is appreciated.
Preschool Graduation is June 10 at 11:00am in the Sanctuary. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. VACATION BIBLE CAMP JULY 11-15 Get set for “PandaMania – Where God Is Wild About You”. We are excited to offer this fantastic Vacation Bible Camp for the young people of our church and neighborhood. Pastor Mark will again offer an adult class and this year we will study The Prayer and Devotional Practices of United Methodists. As in years past, we will begin with a light supper at 6pm followed by VBC until 8:30pm. Please put this in your calendar and plan to attend. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kathy DiGrazia. The volunteer meeting for Vacation Bible Camp will be held at 7:00pm on June 8, 2011. Our pre-school is undergoing another transition this June. Earlier this year, the Church Council voted to assume responsibility and control of the pre-school to ensure its continued strength and viability. At that time it was decided that the Church Council would reevaluate the decision after 6 months. The Trustees and the Finance Committee studied the pre-school’s progress and determined that our church could no longer afford to bear this program’s costs. While we had hoped that the preschool could turn around and start covering the costs of supplies and salaries, this turned out to be unrealistic. Rather than close the pre-school, however, the Finance Committee and Trustees recommended to the Church Council that Alpha And Omega Quality Day Care be allowed to rent the existing space. Alpha and Omega’s Director, LaQuanta Baldwin, has been licensed to add child care to her current before and after school program. We feel this is a Win Win solution for everyone involved. Our students will still get a high quality pre-school experience and our church will no longer be responsible for program costs. ALPHA AND OMEGA May 7, 2011 Hip Hop Spring Dance Fund Raiser was a success! The dance helped students with summer camp activity fee. I'd like to thank parents who volunteered. Thank you for preparing for the dance, keeping it organized, chaperoning, set up and cleaning. Thank you to Alpha & Omega Board for your awesome support with planning. Special thank you to Jackie Burnham, Carol - Anne Walker and Robin Matthews for your gracious donation, who supplied us with a total of $70.00 worth of a variety of gift cards to McDonalds, Sonic, and Game Stop, to give away as prizes during the dance! We welcome Khloe Imes (Treasurer) and Carolyn Nichols (Secretary) to the Alpha & Omega Board. Summer Camp will begin June 20- Aug 26, 7am - 6pm Our last board meeting will be June 15, 2012 at 7:00pm, in the Parlor. We will resume September 14, 2011 at 7:00pm, in the Parlor. Thank you all for your support, time and most of all helping making Alpha & Omega a stronger program for the kids in the community. You are truly a blessing! Alpha & Omega will be in various parts of the building beginning sometime in May /June due to the installation of the air conditioning in the Fellowship Hall. Church Family we will need your support please continue to check the calendar and flyers around the church for fund raisers for the mission trip.
