CONGRATULATIONS TO THREE LITTLE GIRLS Darcey Rose Morgan daughter of Darren & Carolyn of Badminton Grand-daughter of Pete & Heather Morgan and to twin girls Grace & Isobel daughters of Belinda Harford & Andy Trudgian Grand-daughters to Ian & May Harford of Burton Condolences to the Dave Bright and family on their recent loss of Vera. Vera was very much involved with in many clubs and organisations, always raising money for charities. She was well liked and respected as could be seen from the number of people who attended her funeral at Badminton. Her story is told elsewhere in the Talkback.
______________________________________________________________________________ _DECEMBER 2013 LOCAL TALKBACK ISSUE 436__ EDITORIAL Our thoughts are turning to what is on locally to brighten those long days until Christmas. One idea is to visit the Enchanted Illuminated Trail at Westonbirt Arboretum. Fri,Sat,Sun 5 – 8.30pm (last entry 7.15pm) Nov 29 th – Dec 22 nd . Or perhaps visit the Frampton-on-Severn Christmas Craft Fair Dec 7 th 10am – 2pm. at The Wool Barn. Or wander around the Bath Christmas market between the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey. There are over 150 stalls selling unusual gifts, decorations and food. Mon-Wed 10 – 7pm; Thur-Sat 10-8pm; Sun 10-6pm. Ends 15 th December. The three of us wanted to go somewhere ‘Christmassy’ to put us in the festive mood and Whitehall Garden Centre in Lacock certainly fitted the bill. Sitting in the Lavender Lodge Tea room/Bistro, a tastefully decorated, calm and spacious area compared to the busy main restaurant, we reflected on what we had just experienced. Take the first step through the door and you are in a winter wonderland as you walk through a grotto full of displays of snowy scenes, a giant gingerbread house and a life size Santa. The main ones are of a deer under a tree of white fairy lights and an almost life size snowy garden scene complete with wooden bridge and life-size geese swimming in the ‘icy stream’. Step out through the back door and you are overlooking the outdoor 300 sq. metre ice-skating rink and Alpine Cafe with terrace overlooking the ice. Another surprise were the two live reindeer Starlight and Moonbeam and Pickle and Gurkin the two Pygmy goats. Well worth taking children to look around. Santa is also in his Grotto. The Ice-skating Spectacular is open seven days a week until 7 th January. 45 minute sessions are for adults: £7.99 –£9.99, children £1.99 - £7.99. Ride-on bananas and penguins for children and beginners are available, as are double-bladed skates for toddlers
