South Africa safari! The journey begins with a memorable visit<br />

to Cape Town, where highlights will include Table Mountain,<br />

Kirstenbosch Gardens, the Cape Peninsula (including Boulders<br />

Beach, Seal Island, and a funicular trip); touring in the Wine Country;<br />

and an optional White Shark Cage Diving adventure! Then, we’ll fly<br />

to the Kruger National Park area, and spend two nights each at the<br />

Saturday, February 23 - Depart Phoenix<br />

This morning we depart Phoenix and fly to our gateway, where we<br />

connect with an international, overnight flight destined for South<br />

Africa.<br />

Sunday, February 24 - Arrive Cape<br />

Town<br />

Evening arrival at Cape Town International<br />

Airport, where we are met and transferred<br />

to our hotel for overnight. Winchester<br />

Mansions.<br />

Monday, February 25 - Cape Town<br />

Morning at leisure to rest-up and adjust<br />

after the long trip. Late this morning we’ll depart on a tour of<br />

the Cape Town area. We’ll begin with<br />

lunch, and then proceed to Kirstenbosch<br />

National Botanical Garden, acclaimed as<br />

one of the great botanic gardens of the<br />

world. Few gardens can match the sheer<br />

grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch,<br />

against the eastern slopes of Cape<br />

Town’s Table Mountain. Then (weather<br />

permitting) we’ll take the cable car up Table Mountain, and gaze<br />

down on the city, as we are given an overview of its historical layout.<br />

Tuesday, February<br />

26 - Cape Town<br />

(Cape Peninsula<br />

Full-Day Excursion)<br />

After breakfast, we’ll<br />

depart on a full day tour<br />

of the Cape Peninsula,<br />

including Cape Point and Funicular, Boulders Beach and Seal Island.<br />

We admire spectacular scenery as we are driven along the coastline<br />

of the Atlantic and through the elegant suburbs of Bantry Bay and<br />

Camps Bay, and on to beautiful Hout Bay. The adventure continues<br />

with visits to Chapman’s Peak, where we admire the views from<br />

the highest point. We’ll also visit<br />

Boulders Beach with its Penguin<br />

colony, Seal Island, and the Cape<br />

Point Nature Reserve, where we’ll<br />

visit the Cape of Good Hope, and<br />

the Cape Point Lighthouse. Lunch<br />

Bongani Mountain Lodge, located in a private game reserve, and<br />

another lodge in Sabi Sands, which is home to the Big Five, along<br />

with many other wildlife species! You also have the opportunity to<br />

participate in an optional, 3-night extension to Victoria Falls <strong>–</strong> one of<br />

the seven “Natural Wonders of the World.”<br />

Wednesday, February 27 -<br />

Cape Town - Wine Country<br />

- Hermanus<br />

After breakfast we depart Cape<br />

Town for a full day tour of the<br />

Winelands, including two wine<br />

tastings at secluded estates, a<br />

cheese or chocolate tasting, and<br />

a range of cultural and historical<br />

attractions. While South Africa’s<br />

Winelands region is justifiably well-known for its exceptionally high<br />

quality wines, there are also a number of other attractions in this<br />

beautiful region. We’ll enjoy lunch along the way. After a scenic day<br />

in the Wine Country, we’ll arrive at Hermanus, where we’ll check-in<br />

at the Grootbos Private Reserve for dinner and overnight. Grootbos<br />

Thursday, February 28 -<br />

Hermanus (Optional White<br />

Shark Cage Dive Excursion)<br />

This morning you’ll have a variety<br />

of activities you may choose to<br />

engage in. From beach walks,<br />

to horseback riding, to trails, the<br />

Grootbos Private Reserve offers<br />

an abundance of activities. In the<br />

afternoon we’ll visit other areas of interest, including the town of<br />

Hermanus.<br />

Optional White Shark Cage Dive<br />

Excursion. For those who are<br />

adventuresome, you’ll have the<br />

opportunity to participate in an<br />

optional excursion to “swim with<br />

the sharks!” After an early breakfast<br />

you’ll board a boat for a White Shark<br />

tour including a Shark Cage Dive.<br />

This adventure is ideal for thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts<br />

alike. Guests can experience the excitement of being face to face<br />

with a shark, inside the protection of a submerged cage. We’ll also<br />

see Dyer Island, with its permanent colony of Cape Fur Seals, and<br />

Geyser Island, with its Jackass Penguins.<br />

While there is no guarantee of seeing<br />

sharks on your dive, the probability is<br />

estimated at 95%).Dinner and overnight.<br />
