Cultural Changes—Too Often Taken <strong>for</strong> Granted <br />

Cultural changes including core competencies, relationship management, user acceptance, and <br />

attracting <strong>the</strong> next generation are often overlooked in many industry initiatives. Challenges with cultural <br />

changes typically far exceed <strong>the</strong> task of creating new work process. Some of <strong>the</strong> aspects 11 to be <br />

addressed include: <br />

• Barriers (individual, organizational, business, or process technology)<br />

• Change Management (teams, communications, training, recognition, and incentives) <br />

• Implementation Guidelines <br />

o Focus on team <strong>for</strong>mation and project approach <br />

o Obtain deep management involvement <br />

o Communicate <strong>for</strong> clarity and realism <br />

• End User Acceptance of Technology – how to improve technology adoption, particularly in <br />

construction phase<br />
