What next for the Government Construction Strategy? Introduction The Government Construction Strategy (GCS) was formulated in 2011, with the aim of reducing the cost of government construction projects by 15 to 20 per cent by 2015. In July 2012, the Cabinet Office published a ‘One Year On’ review of the GCS. The report noted that inyear savings of £72 million had been achieved since the strategy’s launch. In addition, whole-life savings of £279 million have been identified on contracts awarded and projects registered during 2011-12.
