For the punishment of the disobedient, and the ~afety and defence of our good
alld loyal subjects residing within the towns of Kinsale, Hosse, and the countries
Cl'icoursie, Ibaune, K enalmeky, and the whole country of Carribl'ie, from Kinsale
to Hosse, and from the seaside in Ibanu e along to the meares of Mouskerry
north ward, and for reducing of both kinds of our subjects as shall repair to the
tOWllS of K insale and Hoss, &c., we do appoint you, vi.z. :
23 J;uly, 1604, Sir HicharLl Persie, Knt., governor of our towns of Kinsale and
Hoss, and all castles, &c., within said circuit. Fee, lOs. a day.
23 April, 1G10, Henry Skipwith, Esq., Constable of Castlepark. He was appointed
upon the recomwendation of the P. C. in England fur his pains in furthering
and bringing to perfection the fortil-ications of Castlepark.

Fort, comlllonly called the F ort of Kinsale, and a foot company there fur the
defence and safety thereof. Sir 'Yilliam making known to the King that his infirmities
would not snffer him to undergo the charge of said govemment and
company, the King, for his good services performed when late commander of H.M .
