Service Area
Good Shepherd Youth and Family Service - Peninsula provides family and community
programs in the Westernport area, Mornington, Rosebud, Dandenong, Frankston and
Wallaroo Community Centre in West Park Hastings. The programs include Family
Solutions, community participation and community house programs, children’s services,
programs and housing for women victims of family violence, Financial Counselling and a
no interest loans programs. The Family Violence Program sits within Good Shepherd
Youth and Family Service - Peninsula. The core service agreement is with the
Department of Human Services and is framed within the requirements of the Integrated
Family Violence Framework. The program operates with a gendered analysis and
approach to addressing family violence
The program supports women and children in their own journey away from family
violence. The program has a team of staff located in both a central office and from
outreach locations across the Mornington Peninsula. The program provides the following:
Community Family Violence Support, a local family violence service for women and
women with accompanying children who live on the Mornington Peninsula. The service
provides risk assessment, safety planning, outreach, support, advocacy, referral to crisis
accommodation, parenting support, referral to agencies on the Mornington Peninsula and
group work.
Crisis Supported Accommodation, Valerie House provides short term, secure refuge
accommodation for women and children from across the state who are escaping family
violence.
Firma Foundations is a new project which sits within the Peninsula family violence
program. It will provide advice and support to women and their children at risk of family
violence by offering women targeted information and support to bolster their financial
capability. It will work in close partnership with other Good Shepherd Youth and Family
Services.
