<strong>Service</strong> Area<br />

<strong>Good</strong> <strong>Shepherd</strong> <strong>Youth</strong> and <strong>Family</strong> <strong>Service</strong> - Peninsula provides family and community<br />

programs in the Westernport area, Mornington, Rosebud, Dandenong, Frankston and<br />

Wallaroo Community Centre in West Park Hastings. The programs include <strong>Family</strong><br />

Solutions, community participation and community house programs, children’s services,<br />

programs and housing for women victims of family violence, Financial Counselling and a<br />

no interest loans programs. The <strong>Family</strong> Violence Program sits within <strong>Good</strong> <strong>Shepherd</strong><br />

<strong>Youth</strong> and <strong>Family</strong> <strong>Service</strong> - Peninsula. The core service agreement is with the<br />

Department of Human <strong>Service</strong>s and is framed within the requirements of the Integrated<br />

<strong>Family</strong> Violence Framework. The program operates with a gendered analysis and<br />

approach to addressing family violence<br />

The program supports women and children in their own journey away from family<br />

violence. The program has a team of staff located in both a central office and from<br />

outreach locations across the Mornington Peninsula. The program provides the following:<br />

Community <strong>Family</strong> Violence Support, a local family violence service for women and<br />

women with accompanying children who live on the Mornington Peninsula. The service<br />

provides risk assessment, safety planning, outreach, support, advocacy, referral to crisis<br />

accommodation, parenting support, referral to agencies on the Mornington Peninsula and<br />

group work.<br />

Crisis Supported Accommodation, Valerie House provides short term, secure refuge<br />

accommodation for women and children from across the state who are escaping family<br />

violence.<br />

Firma Foundations is a new project which sits within the Peninsula family violence<br />

program. It will provide advice and support to women and their children at risk of family<br />

violence by offering women targeted information and support to bolster their financial<br />

capability. It will work in close partnership with other <strong>Good</strong> <strong>Shepherd</strong> <strong>Youth</strong> and <strong>Family</strong><br />

<strong>Service</strong>s.<br />
