Andy loved all animals. At one
time or another Andy’s bedroom at
14-R Laurel Hill Road was home
to Toby, a squirrel who would
spend nights in the house. Toby
would leave the house in the morning,
spend the day in the woods
and come home to sleep at night.
A bantam rooster, ferret and pet
skunk were kept in cages in our
back yard.
We have these special memories
And, although our son is gone,
In time the sadness will fade away
But the memories linger on.
Friends of the
Greenbelt Museum
(FOGM) board member
Rita Cacas has designed
a new website at
www.greenbeltmuseum.org.
The website features information
on FOGM’s
history, the challenge
grant from the National
Endowment for the Humanities
and upcoming
events. It also shows
items in the gift shop Rack card
and previous information
on how to become a museum volunteer.
The website also has links
to other Greenbelt-related sites.
Videos of recent lectures, including
Sharon Bradley’s talk on
“Restoring Roosevelt Center,”
Helen Langa’s “Art for the People:
American Murals from the Great
Depression” and John Breihan’s
“Middle River: The Town that
Bombers Built,” are now available
for a small fee. Call the museum
office at 301-507-6582 to order a
copy.
The museum has a new rack
card (see photo above) – a glossy
postcard-sized card that briefly describes
Greenbelt’s history as a national
historic landmark, its innovative
design features and the historic
house. Also listed
are the museum’s location,
hours and website
address. The card will
be placed in hotels and
other public areas
where tourists interested
in visiting Greenbelt
can pick it up. It is
also available at the
Community Center and
other public locations.
The Franklin D.
Roosevelt American
Heritage Center is
Did
you
know?
Islam is considered by its
followers as a way of life
rather than just a religion, as it
gives guidance in every aspect
of human life.
"O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at
another group; it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor
let (some) women laugh at others; it may be that the latter are better
than the former. Nor defame nor be sarcastic of each other, nor call
each other by offensive nicknames. How bad it is to insult one's brother
after having Faith. And whosoever does not repent, then such are
indeed wrongdoers. – The Holy Qur'an 49:11
