Computer Club
will hold its October monthly
meeting on Thursday, October
Golden Age Club
by Bunny Fitzgerald
The Golden Agers have done
it again. On Saturday we had
a great yard sale-bake sale at
Roosevelt Center. Many thanks
to all who worked and baked
to make this such a success.
Thanks to Public Works for their
help – the weather was perfect,
too. It seems to me this is what
the Club is all about, working
together and everyone pitching in
to make things happen and have
a good time along the way and
raise some money.
On October 10 we will have
a piano player and a sing-along.
Dr. Trifoglio had to cancel out
but we will reschedule later in
the year.
We had over 70 people at our
September 26 meeting to hear
“Medicare Made Clear.” It was
an excellent presentation with
slides and a singer and snacks.
They are going to send us some
more of the “Medicare Made
Clear” booklets. Check in the
office in about a week. We are
sending our cheery thoughts to
Cathy Holecombe (broken elbow),
Ellie Rimar, Shirleyann
Eginreider and Pearl Siegel (heart
problem).
Condolences and sympathy to
the family of Joe Wilkinson. He
was a longtime member and active
in the Lions. Joe was living
at Riderwood.
Explorations to Show
Film on Pyramids
On Friday, October 12 Explorations
Unlimited will show
the video “Mysteries of the Pyramids.”
This Goodhill video,
narrated by Omar Sharif, helps
unlock the mystic secrets of ancient
Egypt. Viewers journey
with Sharif down a long-forgotten
secret passageway into
never-before-seen sanctums of
the Great Pyramids of Giza. The
film shows famous treasure-filled
tombs and centuries-old mummies.
The film meets experts who
to this day spend their lives trying
to uncover the secrets of the
pyramids. How were they built?
What was their purpose? Did the
Sphinx hide a secret passageway
to a library from a long-lost civilization?
Why did the Egyptians mummify
their dead? What is the
truth behind the ominous “Curse
of the Pharaohs?” Marvel at the
majesty of the greatest of the
seven wonders of the ancient
world as Sharif guides viewers
in unlocking the mysteries of the
pyramids.
Explorations Unlimited is held
every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. in
the Greenbelt Community Center.
This presentation will be held in
the Senior Lounge. Everyone is
welcome to attend. Call 301-
