Product Warranty General INformation HEAVY DUTY EXHAUST PRODUCTS Diesel Muffler, Vertical Installations Diesel Muffler, Horizontal Installations Gas Engine Mufflers Pipes, Elbows and Accessories Chrome Parts (Peeling & Blistering Only) LENGTH OF WARRANTY 4 Years or 500,000 miles 3 Years or 500,000 miles 1 Year 1 Year 1 Year TERMS & CONDITIONS Warranty coverage begins on the date and mileage that the part is purchased by the user and expires when the specified numbers of years or miles have passed, whichever comes first. WARRANTY STATEMENT In the rare event that a product does not perform as expected, Grand Rock warrants its products against failure due to defects in materials and workmanship for the period specified under Terms and Conditions for the particular part. Grand Rock obligation under this warranty covers replacement of the failed part including transportation charges. The Length of Warranty for replacement parts provided under warranty coverage is the balance of the warranty period remaining on the part being replaced. It is important that the customer handle, store and install all products properly. This warranty does not cover failure due to misapplication, misuse, abuse, neglect, rust through and corrosion (muffler), improper service practices or non-approved modification. U.S. EPA AND NOISE REGULATIONS FOR ON ROAD TRUCKS The first nationwide regulation of truck noise was established with the Noise Control Act of 1972 (P.L. 92-574.86 STAT. 1234). Regulations apply to trucks greater than 10,000 lbs GVW. Noise regulations apply to total truck noise, not just exhaust noise. In the past, US EPA coordinated all federal noise control activities through its Office of Noise Abatement and Control. In 1981, the Administration at that time concluded that noise issues were best handled at the state or local government level. As a result, the US EPA phased out the office's funding in 1982 as part of a shift in federal noise control policy to transfer the primary responsibility of regulating noise to state and local governments. The Noise Control Act of 1972 and the Quiet Communities Act of 1978, however, were not rescinded by Congress and remain in effect today, although essentially unfunded. US EPA regulations stipulate maximum noise levels for both new (first-fit) and in-use trucks. Vehicle manufacturers are responsible for compliance of new trucks, and owners are responsible for in-use trucks. New trucks must be no louder than 80dB at 50 feet. In-use trucks, if manufactured 1986 or later, must be less than 83dB. If they were manufactured before 1986, they must be no louder than 86dB. EPA regulations also stipulate that a replacement muffler be no louder than the original equipment (first-fit) muffler. 3 1-800-321-3674 www.grandrock.com
