Gloria
Gloria, a large-scale festival piece cast in five
movements, was premiered in London on July 11,
2010, by The Really Big Chorus (2,500 voices). It
sets the traditional Latin texts and incorporates
a setting of Psalm 150 in alternative Hebrew or
Latin texts. Between the movements, readings
from Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and Islam are
given, in English or any language of choice.

The Peacemakers

The Peacemakers sets words of peace from iconic,
world-changing figures such as Gandhi, Nelson
Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr., along with
other inspirational quotations of Mother Teresa,
Albert Schweitzer, Anne Frank and the Dalai Lama.
Also included are religious texts from the Bible,
the Qur’an, St. Francis of Assisi and Bahá’u’lláh, and the poetry of
Shelley, Malory, Terry Waite and Carol Barratt. One line from the
Persian mystic poet Rumi sums up the ethos of the work: “All religions,
all singing one song: Peace be with you.”
Scored for soprano solo, SATB chorus, optional SSA chorus, flute, guitar
(acoustic, classical or fretless bass), strings and percussion, with optional
soprano saxophone, brass, timpani, solo violin and organ/electronic

The 13th-century Latin sequence, set by many
famous composers of the past, receives a fresh
expression and intensity in Karl Jenkins’s setting.
The work is divided into twelve movements
and incorporates additional texts including “Ave
verum corpus” (originally composed for Bryn Terfel), “Lament” by
Carol Barratt, and English texts derived from ancient Babylonian and
medieval Persian sources. By turns dramatic and reflective, Stabat
Mater will be eagerly seized on by Jenkins fans everywhere. Suitable
