ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Ten<br />

happy preschoolers from the church<br />

here attended a luncheon party Dec.<br />

27. Fancy s<strong>and</strong>wiches made by<br />

member Donna Kendrick were served<br />

on tablecloths placed on the carpet for<br />

a picnic effect. Black olives <strong>and</strong> sliced<br />

carrots on loothpk:ks, punch. potato<br />

chips <strong>and</strong> Alaskan wild-berry tarts<br />

were also served. Singing, games <strong>and</strong><br />

prizes foUowed.<br />

Because of the increase in church<br />

attendance of the preteen children,<br />

their parties will be divided into two<br />

gro<strong>up</strong>s - o nc for flTSt through third<br />

graders <strong>and</strong> another for fourth<br />

through sixth graders. This wiD decrease<br />

the problems caused by different<br />

ATLANTA, Ga. - The latest occasion<br />

for fun <strong>and</strong> (eUowsbip here was<br />

a covered-dish luncheon <strong>and</strong> miscellaneous<br />

baby shower in honor of Mrs.<br />

Bob (Sylvia) Welsh on Dec. 11 at the<br />

Sturbridge Square Apartments'<br />

clubhouse. About 30 ladies. including<br />

the mother <strong>and</strong> three daughters of the<br />

guest of honor, were pr-esent.<br />

One of the h<strong>and</strong>made gUts, a white<br />

macrame plant hanger with colorful<br />

beads <strong>and</strong> a teddy bear in a swing,<br />

served as the main decoration. The<br />

planter contained mints. Another gift<br />

was a nursery-rhyme quilt, wit;' each<br />

square embroidered by a different<br />

person <strong>and</strong> quilted together with red<br />

<strong>and</strong> white gingham. AU gifts were very<br />

useful, but apparently everyone was<br />

BELLEVILLE. III. -Anold-fashioned<br />

family social was held here Dec,<br />

25 at the,Emerald Mound Grange Hall<br />

near Lebanon. The two-level building<br />

afforded opportunities for a wide<br />

range of activities. Arriving at noon.<br />

people participated informally in<br />

cards, games <strong>and</strong> good conversation.<br />

After a potluck dinner. most people<br />

joined in a sing-along. Pastor Frank<br />

McCrady led with his guitar, accompanied<br />

by several local Church musicians<br />

on guitar, bass guitar, piano <strong>and</strong><br />

drums. The sing-along was<br />

thoroughly el\ioyed by singers <strong>and</strong> listeners.<br />

Movies were shown following the<br />

BRISBANE, Australia - The 1977<br />

Brisbane Family Night Dec. 17 was<br />

organized by the Women's Club here.<br />

A potluck meal foUowed the service<br />

for adults, while the children enjoyed<br />

a picnic on the lawns outside the baJJ.<br />

After their meal, they were entertained<br />

with sames <strong>and</strong> soodies by<br />

the clown of the evening. lan Mc­<br />

Queen.<br />

At 7 p.m., fun <strong>and</strong> sames for the<br />

whole family began, with pastor Mark<br />

Cardona as emcee. Token prizes were<br />

awarded to the winn.ers of each of the<br />

games. .<br />

Followi.ng was the judging of the<br />

bakins contest for the men, the<br />

biscuit-bakill8 coatest for boys under<br />

12, the edible-neck.lace contest for<br />

girls <strong>and</strong> the tie-tying contest for<br />

women. The response was overwhelming,<br />

with 49 entries in themen's<br />

baking contest, .<br />

Winners were Barny Bol<strong>and</strong>. pastry;<br />

John Lyons, scones; Mark Cardona.<br />

cakes: <strong>and</strong> Robert Wood, biscuits.<br />

Honorable mention went to<br />

R~sseU Moore ror his biscuits, Eric<br />

Cohen for his chocolate cake <strong>and</strong> Arthur<br />

Powell for his fruit cake.<br />

Winner of the boys' biscuit-baking<br />

contest was Steven Moore. with honorable<br />

mention to Andrew Clare. The<br />

edible-nedJace contest was won by<br />

Susan Hughes, with honorable mention<br />

to Karen Crabtree.<br />

The women who entered the tietying<br />

contest had to tie the ties on<br />

themselves <strong>and</strong> the results had to be<br />

seen to be believed. Glenda Gee won<br />

the prize ror the neatest tie <strong>and</strong> Mrs.<br />

Lyndall Moore for the faslest tier.<br />

At the conclusion of the evening, a<br />

s<strong>up</strong>per of the men's <strong>and</strong> boys' baked<br />

goods <strong>and</strong> ice cream was served. Tokens<br />

of the evening were given to the<br />

Kids' Day<br />

CALGARY. Alta. -Kidsages6to<br />

12 from the Calgary <strong>and</strong> Didsbury<br />

churches had a Kids' Day Dec. 28.<br />

Activities began at 10:30 a.m, <strong>and</strong><br />

ended at' 6:30 p.m. First the gro<strong>up</strong><br />

went bowling for two or three games.<br />

Then the kids went with their leader to<br />

his car <strong>and</strong> ate packed lunches. Next<br />

stop was the movie P~t~' s Dragon.<br />

Best of all was a stop at Shakey's<br />

Pizza Parlor, which gave the kids a<br />

bargain - all they could eat. for $2 a<br />

person.<br />

The churches here usually have a<br />

IGds' Day twice a year, in August <strong>and</strong><br />

December. This was the fourth one.<br />

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The<br />

brethren here held a luau dinner dance<br />

Dec. 3. Outside the trees were bare<br />

<strong>and</strong> the weather was nippy, but inside<br />

was warmth <strong>and</strong> laughter amid decorations<br />

of artificial palm trees <strong>and</strong><br />

tropical costumes.<br />

The tables were decorated with<br />

fresh pineapples <strong>and</strong> fruit punch<br />
