Ohio, as the fifth-seed in the
West Regional of the 2007 NCAA
Tournament. Virginia Tech defeated
the 12th-seed Illini of Illinois, 54-52,
before falling to fourth-seed Southern
Illinois, 63-48, at Nationwide Arena. It
marked the Hokies’ first appearance in
the NCAA Tournament since 1996.
