Tham Bun Hak<br />
A rural electricity<br />
producer in the N<strong>or</strong>thwestern province of Banteay Meanchey of Cambodia who provides<br />
electricity f<strong>or</strong> the domestic use of around 100 families with a netw<strong>or</strong>k of electrical wires.<br />

Keith Bolin of Manlius, IL, has farmed at his present location since 1978. He <strong>and</strong> his<br />
wife, Barbara, have been married f<strong>or</strong> 29 years <strong>and</strong> have 4 children; <strong>and</strong> 2 gr<strong>and</strong>children.<br />
They own <strong>and</strong> operate the family farm where Keith <strong>and</strong> his 3 older brothers grew up.<br />
They have an outside hog operation that are raised under Animal Welfare <strong>Institute</strong><br />
st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> are antibiotic <strong>and</strong> growth h<strong>or</strong>mone free, <strong>and</strong> they also raise c<strong>or</strong>n, oats, <strong>and</strong><br />
alfalfa. In addition, they also have a small cow/calf herd.<br />
Keith serves on the Bureau Valley School Board <strong>and</strong> has served on the Board of<br />
Direct<strong>or</strong>s of the American C<strong>or</strong>n Growers Association. He has been a featured speaker f<strong>or</strong><br />
the last 5 years at the Bug House Debates in Chicago speaking about agriculture issues<br />
<strong>and</strong> their effect on the consumer; he has traveled to Romania speaking out against<br />
Smithfield hog facilities <strong>and</strong> their negative impact on local economy <strong>and</strong> culture.<br />
The American C<strong>or</strong>n Growers Association is a supp<strong>or</strong>ter of locally owned renewable<br />
energy. Keith was instrumental in procuring grant money f<strong>or</strong> the Bureau Valley School<br />
District to construct a wind turbine adjacent to its newly constructed high school. Bureau<br />
Valley is the first school district in Illinois to use wind energy to power its high school.<br />
The American C<strong>or</strong>n Growers Association believes strongly in the right of ALL farmers to<br />
be able to make a living from their l<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> livestock (food sovereignty).<br />

Pedro Ivan Christoffoli is an activist of MST since 1987. He is a member of the<br />
Production <strong>and</strong> Environmental MST Sect<strong>or</strong>. He holds a university degree in agronomy, a<br />
Master degree in Administration (Management) from the Universidade Federal do Parana<br />
(UFPR Brasil). Currently he is doing also a Doct<strong>or</strong>ate at the Universidade de Brasilia<br />
(UnB - Brasil) in Sustainable Development.<br />
