SURPASSES FUNDRAISING GOAL

North York General’s Heart of
Fashion dazzled 500 glamorous
guests on November 2 with
a fusion of food, fashion and live
entertainment as members of the city’s
fashion and social elite gathered in an
elegant marquee in the Town Square at
the Shops at Don Mills.
The Heart of Fashion featured a
sophisticated yet sexy fashion show
hosted by Honorary Fashion Show
chair Jeanne Beker, with runway
presentations by Canadian designers
and retailers at the Shops at Don Mills.
Chaired by Holly Miklas and presented
by BMO Financial Group, the event
raised over $650,000, surpassing its
goal. All proceeds will support the
redevelopment of Phillips House into a
warm, comforting space for outpatient
mental health care at North York
General.
“The new Heart of Fashion was
a phenomenal success,” says Terry
Pursell, president and CEO of the
North York General Foundation.
“We are so grateful to all of our
sponsors, guests and supporters for
helping us to reach and exceed our
goal. Thank you for making a world of
difference at North York General.”
Proceeds from Heart of Fashion
will support North York General’s
transformation of a historic property
that is located near the hospital’s main
site. Phillips House, a heritage estate
owned by the hospital, will be preserved
while becoming a beautiful, welcoming
facility for women’s and children’s
outpatient mental health care. Heart of
Fashion will profile the importance of
investing in a warm, non-clinical space
for mental health care.
