Some <strong>of</strong> you may be aware that our FAA Contract Tower funding was imperiled earlier this year<br />

due to sequestration cuts. However, many thanks to our fantastic legislative delegation and staff<br />

members from Sen. Mike Crapo, Sen. Jim Risch, and Cong. Mike Simpson, as they leveraged<br />

their efforts with other elected <strong>of</strong>ficials in other affected states (179 towers across multiple states)<br />

to get the funding reinstated by clarifying the “Congressional intent” <strong>of</strong> directed funding for TSA<br />

and FAA Contract Towers. As a result, that funding was extended to September 30, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

Also, as <strong>of</strong> 6/27/13 The Senate DOT/FAA appropriations bill for FY ’14, was approved by the full<br />

Senate Appropriations Committee, which includes $140.35 million in dedicated funding for the<br />

Contract Tower Program, including $10.35 million for the cost-share program.<br />

Locally, we have an opportunity to possibly expand air service from eastern <strong>Idaho</strong> to the<br />

Nampa/Boise area. We are seeking your attendance, comments, suggestions, and input!<br />

<strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>Falls</strong>' Events Center Plat Submitted<br />

Tangible plans for the <strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>Falls</strong> events center are starting to take shape after a plat was submitted<br />

to the city May 20.<br />

It will be considered by members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>Falls</strong> Planning Commission on June 18. The<br />

commission's recommendation then will be heard by the <strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>Falls</strong> City Council, possibly as early as<br />

<strong>July</strong>. Final approval for the 22-acre site rests with the council.<br />

LINE 2.0 Members Named<br />

On June 6 th Governor Otter announced the makeup <strong>of</strong> the new Leadership in Nuclear Energy<br />

Commission.<br />

LINE 2.0 will be responsible for enacting six recommendations made by the original LINE Commission.<br />

Members <strong>of</strong> the new panel, which will meet quarterly, include legislators, university representatives,<br />

INL <strong>of</strong>ficials and business leaders. The biggest distinction is the original commission was given a very
