CHARTER<br />

Description<br />

of Working Group:<br />

Develop a long term approach to management of the<br />

<strong>Internet</strong> based on the OSI Network Management Framework<br />

and the Common Management Information Protocol (CMIP).<br />

Provide input to the OSI standards process based on<br />

experience in the <strong>Internet</strong>, and thereby influence the<br />

final form of OSI International Standards on network<br />

management, in particular CMIS/P.<br />

Objectives:<br />

Develop prototype implementors agreements on CMIP over<br />

TCP.<br />

Develop prototype implementations based on the CMOT<br />

agreements and IETF SMI and MIB agreements.<br />

Experiment with CMOT and extensions to the SMI and MIB.<br />

Develop final implementors agreements for CMOTo<br />

Promote development of products based on CMOT.<br />

Provide input to the OSI Network Management standards<br />

process in time to effect the International Standards.<br />

Estimated Timeframe for Completion:<br />

The group’s work should be completed by June 1989.<br />
