Christian Carruthers lives in Christchurch with his wife Rebecca and his young son Jim.
He has always been interested in art and illustration for children's books and comics.
At an early age he knew the names of illustrators like Jules Fiffer, Herge, Tomi Ungerer, M
Sasek and Quentin Blake.
" I remember I was just as interested in their techniques and drawing styles as I was on the content of the
drawings."
"I think what I like about art made for children's books is that it can make a very strong
impression on someone which is sometimes carried on for the rest of their life.
I would love to be able to make a drawing that connected with someone the way certain
illustrations have for me."
