You recently went on a VOX trip to New Mexico.
Any funny stories from the trip?
That was a fun trip. Any trip with Duffy is amazing
and when you throw Dan and Darren in the mix...
Funny stories for days. Nothing epic though, just good
company and that is key when you get dealt a s#!t
hand in the weather department like we did.
Got any worthy Duffy stories?
Well a few summers ago we went to a Madonna
concert together in Spain which was f#&king epic in
itself... Then had a great time afterwards but nothing
funny if you weren’t there. Just going to Madonna
with a guy I once worshiped is funny to me. Salt of the
earth that guy is.
Who on VOX are you especially hyped on right
now?
[Pat] Duffy.
Tell us a little about your new shoe, the
shovelhead. Have you tested any samples yet?
Give us some feedback.
Well it’s the best shoe we have in my opinion. It just
feels good and looks good and to me that is what
makes a good skate shoe. When I look at it I want
to get on my board and destroy it. Yes I have had
samples and loved them. 100% Skate shoe from a
100% skate company. Kill what you love.
You recently made the move to L.A.—Why’d you
move and what’s a typical day in the life for you up
there?
I get up, skate to meet some friends at 8:30, skate
home after, eat some food... Then either hit the streets
or a park. Those are the days I enjoy. The others start
the same but involve the stuff you have to do that you
don’t want to like washing clothes, [paying] bills and all
the stuff grown folks do.
Are there any new tricks you’ve been working on
lately that you can’t quite conquer?
Ha! there is a hole in my bag of tricks so just keeping
that stitched up as tight as possible [and it] often leads
to new s#!t. I am stubborn, i’ll keep chipping away until
i got it.
Do you have any solo skate missions or trips
planned on your motorcycle right now?
I wish but hard to ride with a cast on your arm.
Would you rather hit the streets and just cruise
around, or do you prefer loading up the van with a
filmer, photographer, etc., and driving to spots all
day?
You mean like get a massage or eat a bag of hot
coals?
You just recently built a table, and you sew some
of your own clothes. What other creative things do
you do besides skateboarding and woodwork?
When you hear that question out loud it sounds
ridiculous... But yeah, been learning guitar reading and
cooking. I do not put idle time to anything productive
so I avoid it with things I can do with my hands.
How’s that polaroid camera working out for you?
What’s the sickest picture you’ve taken with it? Do
you shoot with any other cameras?
I think I broke it. The pictures are all jacked so not to
sure about that. I can use my iphone camera well.
Closing comments?
Yesterday is gone, there is no guarantee of a
tomorrow. Live life now!
