Hello is the national year of communication – a campaign to increase
understanding of how important it is to develop good communication
skills. The campaign is run by The Communication Trust, a coalition of over
35 leading voluntary sector organisations, in partnership with Jean Gross,
the Government’s Communication Champion.
Hello aims to make 2011 the year when communication for all children
and young people becomes a priority in homes and schools across the UK.
The campaign is backed by the Department for Education and supported
by BT.
Hello will provide information and guidance on typical communication
development, how to spot if children are struggling and where to go for
help and support.
Our aim is to use the national year to deliver tangible improvements for
children, young people and families affected by speech, language and
communication needs. This will include more support for parents and
carers, earlier identification of difficulties as well as earlier and more
appropriate referral to specialist support.
