“Recovery is so much more than symptom
reduction. Recovery is about creating a new
portrait of oneself, one brush stroke at a time.
It takes patience and care. It can’t be prescribed.
Recovery is an act of creation. Service providers
provide the paints and the brushes and maybe
help adjust the perspective of the artist. The
service user is the true creator. Let’s get
painting!” ~ Pat Deegan, PhD
