6.8 ACTION PLAN WAITAKERE CITY ARTS AND CULTURE<br />

20042005<br />

1. Create an inventory in the form of a publicly searchable database of artworks owned by the<br />

Waitakere City <strong>Council</strong>.<br />

2. Create an inventory in the form of a publicly searchable database of public art in Waitakere<br />

City.<br />

3. Investigate the establishment of an Arts and Cultural <strong>Heritage</strong> Trust to co-ordinate and<br />

manage the arts facilities, historic houses and museums owned by the Waitakere City<br />

<strong>Council</strong> as part of the proposed Museum feasibility study in early 2004.<br />

4. Investigate the provision of a civic collections art gallery for Waitakere City as part of the<br />

proposed Museums feasibility study in early 2004.<br />

5. Ensure that the plans for the Corban Estate protect and enhance the sites heritage features for<br />

the enjoyment of future generations.<br />

2005/2006<br />

1. The Waitakere City <strong>Council</strong> to work with community groups to prepare an arts trail/s in the<br />

City, similar to the Harbourside Art Trail for Northcote and Birkenhead.<br />

2. The Waitakere City <strong>Council</strong> continues to implement the Outcomes, Goals and Objectives of<br />

the Arts and Culture <strong>Strategy</strong>.<br />

3. Create an inventory/database of artworks owned by the Waitakere City <strong>Council</strong>, and those in<br />

the city.<br />

4. Develop programmes for community groups and education facilities which interpret the<br />

public art of the city, including brochures, website, guided walks, lectures and opportunities<br />

for hands on art creation based on existing public art.<br />

5. Develop a public art heritage trail.<br />

6. Ensure that the Arts Programme includes consideration of and support for Waitakere City<br />

heritage.<br />

7. Prepare for the Long Term <strong>Council</strong> Community <strong>Plan</strong> 2006.<br />

2006/2007<br />

1. As determined by the Arts and Cultural <strong>Strategy</strong> and the Long Term <strong>Council</strong> Community<br />

<strong>Plan</strong> 2006.
