<strong>the</strong> new law?<br />
What is included in “tuiti<strong>on</strong>”?<br />

by <strong>the</strong> educati<strong>on</strong>al instituti<strong>on</strong>?<br />
a. Be at least 24 years old by<br />
December 31 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> award year<br />
<strong>for</strong> which aid is sought;<br />
b. Be an orphan or a ward <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
court through <strong>the</strong> age <strong>of</strong> 18.<br />
c. Be a veteran <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> U.S. Armed<br />
Forces;<br />
d. Have legal dependents o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
than a spouse (<strong>for</strong> example,<br />
dependent children or parent);<br />
e. Be a graduate or pr<strong>of</strong>essi<strong>on</strong>al<br />
student; or,<br />
f. Be married.<br />
For purposes <strong>of</strong> this new law, <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
c<strong>on</strong>sistent with l<strong>on</strong>g-st<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing HUD<br />
policy regarding eligibility <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
secti<strong>on</strong> 8 programs, parents means<br />
<strong>the</strong> biological or adoptive parents,<br />
or guardians (e.g., gr<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>parents,<br />
aunt/uncle, godparents, etc.), or<br />
such definiti<strong>on</strong> as may be adopted<br />
by <strong>the</strong> owner through appropriate<br />
amendment to its admissi<strong>on</strong>s<br />
policies.<br />
Student means all students enrolled<br />
ei<strong>the</strong>r full-time or part-time at an<br />
instituti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> higher educati<strong>on</strong>. The<br />
new law does not exempt part-time<br />
students.<br />
Tuiti<strong>on</strong> shall have <strong>the</strong> meaning<br />
given this term by <strong>the</strong> instituti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
higher educati<strong>on</strong> in which <strong>the</strong><br />
