This week’s worship service telecast will be on KTTW-
Fox at 11 a.m. due to KSFY’s coverage of te Indy 500.
The telecast will return to KSFY next Sunday, May 31.
We welcome to First Lutheran Church today Bishop
Victoria Cortéz, Bishop of our Companion Synod,
the Lutheran Church of Faith and Hope of Nicaragua.
Bishop Victoria will be preaching at the 9:45 a.m.
worship service. Translating for Bishop Victoria is Justin
Mootz, who previously served as a volunteer missionary
in Nicaragua and is currently a student at Luther
Seminary who is supported by First Lutheran. It is with
great joy and thanksgiving we celebrate our God-given
mission relationships with the Lutheran Church of Faith
and Hope of Nicaragua and with Luther Seminary!
Offering of Letters. You are invited to discover Jesus
in the faces of hungry people in this nation and around
the world by joining Bread for the World offering of
letters today in the Atrium. It only takes 3–5 minutes
and the results are truly significant because it will bring
the voice of caring Lutherans to our congressional
representatives in Washington, D.C. These letters will
be part of our South Dakota Synod Assembly, so please
help our congregation write as many letters as possible.
We certainly know that sound decisions at the level
of our government literally impact for good the lives
of millions of people both at home and around the
world. Speaking about those who are hungry Jesus says:
“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of
these who are members of my family, you did it to me”
(Matthew 25:40).
Genesis Café is open between services in the Gathering
Room. Stop in for coffee and conversation. Your
donation for the treats will help to fund First Lutheran’s
outreach ministry through a booth at JazzFest.
Pennies From Heaven. Buy a penny in the Welcome
Center to support First Lutheran youth. Draw a penny
and purchase it for the amount designated on the penny
($.99 to $9.99). Once all of the pennies are sold, a drawing
will take place to win a Wii or a flat-screen TV.
HyVee/Sunshine gift cards are available for purchase
in the Welcome Center today or in the church office
during the week. All proceeds benefit those attending
youth and young adult summer camps and the 2009
ELCA Youth Gathering.
School is out! Wild Water West passes (for those
48” and taller) are available for purchase at the FLC
Reception Desk for $20 each with the proceeds going
to the current capital campaign loan. The value of each
ticket is $26.50, which allows full and complete access
to go-kart park, water park and wave pool. and is open
now through Labor Day from 11 a.m.–8 p.m.
