Project Leader: Glenn Johnst<strong>on</strong>e<br />

Goal: To assist the Standing <strong>Scientific</strong> Group in achieving its objectives in relati<strong>on</strong> to<br />

communicati<strong>on</strong> and outreach of its activities.<br />

Activities:<br />

• Maintain website for GSSG and c<strong>on</strong>tinue to host at Geoscience Australia<br />

• Maintain listservers<br />

• Maintain the list of c<strong>on</strong>tacts for the exchange of map, chart and geographic<br />

publicati<strong>on</strong>s<br />

2. Publicati<strong>on</strong>s<br />

Project Leaders: Glenn Johnst<strong>on</strong>e and Phil O’Brien<br />

Goal: To publicise GSSG activities.<br />

Activities:<br />

• Maintain and expand a bibliography of key GSSG papers<br />

• Encourage Acti<strong>on</strong> and Expert Groups and Projects to publish their work in a timely<br />

manner<br />

• Produce 4 editi<strong>on</strong>s per year of the GeoReach newsletter<br />

• Maintain metadata for GSSG products in the Antarctic Metadata Directory (AMD).<br />

3. Liais<strong>on</strong><br />

Collaborators: GSSG Executive Group<br />

Goal: To establish and maintain communicati<strong>on</strong> between GSSG members, SCAR and<br />

related external bodies.<br />

Activities:<br />

1. C<strong>on</strong>tinued liais<strong>on</strong> at a working level with key SCAR and n<strong>on</strong>-SCAR<br />

• Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Data and ATS Standing <strong>Committee</strong>s<br />

• COMNAP (STADM/JCADM)<br />

• CEP<br />

• Relevant IUGG <str<strong>on</strong>g>group</str<strong>on</strong>g>s<br />

• Global Map, Digital Earth, GSDI<br />

• ISO TC211<br />

• ISPRS Polar Research Group<br />

2. To take advantage of opportunities for liais<strong>on</strong> with other bodies, if and when they<br />

arise<br />

Goal: To assist, where possible, with the organisati<strong>on</strong> of inter-sessi<strong>on</strong>al meetings.<br />

Activities:<br />

1. Produce support materials for Antarctic geoscience related c<strong>on</strong>ferences, workshop,<br />

symposia etc <strong>on</strong> GSSG activities<br />

2. Provide input into Local Organising <strong>Committee</strong>s for the following meetings:<br />

• Antarctic Geodesy Symposium 2005 (AGS’05), Cairns, Australia, August 2005<br />

• 4th Internati<strong>on</strong>al Antarctic GIS Workshop, Chile, October 2005<br />
