GEM QUALITY HIT-OF-THE-WEEKS
This auction's Gem Quality 78 section features what may be the finest collection of Hit-of-the-Week recordings in existence. The entire commercially released set is represented
here, along with alternate takes, label variants, merchandising back stamps, original sleeves and a few custom pressings. (We'll list additional Durium custom pressings and
advertising records in a future catalog; there's just not enough room in this list to get them all in.) Most of the recordings represented here are in "as new" condition, and even
most of the sleeves are exquisite (which, by the way, are much rarer than the records). Note that the initial Hit-of-the-Week numbering system used the 1000 series matrix
numbers as the disc catalog numbers, and not every master recorded in that run was issued as a HotW release. It should also be noted that there are no known commercial
issues below 1019. After issue 1160, the HotW numbering scheme switched to a system designed specifically to bedevil discographical computer database programmers.
