How to Become a Christian
If you’ve never accepted Christ into your life, you can
do that right now! Here’s what you need to know:
• God created everything! (Genesis 1).
• God has a special plan for your life (Jeremiah 1:5, 29:11; John 10:10b).
• Every person has sinned; and we all need a way to God. The consequence of sin is
death, but God wants to give you the gift of eternal life instead (Romans 3:23, 6:23).
• God sent Jesus Christ—God’s perfect, sinless Son—to take on the punishment of your
sin through death on the cross (John 3:16; Romans 6:23).
• After three days, Jesus rose from the grave. God offers you eternal life through belief
in Jesus Christ who defeated sin and death (Romans 6:4,22).
• In order to have salvation, you only have to accept the life that God offers through
Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9–10). Salvation comes
through faith in Christ, not through anything you
can ever do (Ephesians 2:8–9).
• You become a new creation in Christ once you
accept Jesus as your Savior (2 Corinthians
5:17). You are then a child of God (John
1:12).
Do you believe all of this to be true? Are
you ready to have a new life in Christ?
If so, pray this (or a similar) prayer:
Dear Lord, I realize that I am a sinner.
I realize that You loved me so much
that You gave your only Son, Jesus
Christ, to take the punishment for my
sin. He died on the cross for my sins
and rose from the dead so that I can
have eternal life. Please forgive me of
my sins and come into my life, to be
my Lord and Savior. I want to follow the
plan that You have for my life! Amen.
Be sure to tell someone about the
important decision you have made. Get
involved in a local church so that you can
learn more about God and what it means
to be a Christian. At church, you’ll find
fellow Christians who will encourage you
in your Christian walk, and a place to use
your gifts and abilities for God’s glory.
