Although <strong>level</strong>s of protection are illustr<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> figure1, the <strong>level</strong> of protection should be determ<strong>in</strong>ed by the<br />
<strong>level</strong> of prevail<strong>in</strong>g risk <strong>at</strong> the <strong>level</strong> cross<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> certa<strong>in</strong> circumstances shall require a higher <strong>level</strong> of<br />
protection.<br />
Most illustr<strong>at</strong>ions <strong>in</strong> figure 1 show m<strong>in</strong>imum signage requirements. The use of optional additional signs is<br />
dependent on the outcome of the <strong>level</strong> cross<strong>in</strong>g assessment <strong>and</strong> associ<strong>at</strong>ed risk assessment.<br />

11 FEASIBILITY STUDIES/PRIORITISING AND FUND/ DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION<br />
All of the above shall <strong>in</strong>corpor<strong>at</strong>e the results of the risk assessment <strong>in</strong> order to mitig<strong>at</strong>e the risks <strong>and</strong><br />
reduc<strong>in</strong>g the impact of occurrences <strong>and</strong> shall be approved by the <strong>road</strong> authorities <strong>and</strong> the relevant network<br />
oper<strong>at</strong>ors respectively.<br />
