BLUEMOTION TECHNOLOGY
More miles, less impact
BlueMotion Technology lowers your running costs and your van’s
carbon emissions, and it’s available on almost all Caddy models
At Volkswagen, we’re just as keen as you to cut
carbon emissions. We’re also just as aware
that fuel costs are a big burden on van
drivers, so improving our vehicles’ efficiency only
helps to deliver even better value to you. That’s why
we’ve introduced BlueMotion Technology to all Caddy
panel vans and window vans.
The power of technology
All Caddys that carry the BlueMotion Technology badge
include our fuel-saving solutions – start/stop, Hill Hold
Assist, energy recuperation and cruise control – as
standard. Together, they create instant fuel savings and
emissions, bringing improved fuel economy of
up to 55.4mpg (combined). The benefit is money – and
time – saved at the pumps.
Three engines, all the options
Three BlueMotion Technology engines are available
for Caddys – two 1.6TDIs that offer 75PS or 102PS, and
a 2.0TDI with 140PS. The 1.6TDIs deliver an average of
53.3mpg (75PS) or 55.4mpg (102PS), while the 2.0TDI
manages an impressive 50.4mpg .
You can still customise your Caddy BlueMotion
Technology model like any other Caddy – just ask your
local Van Centre for details.
Cruise
control
By keeping your van
at a constant speed,
cruise control saves fuel
that would normally be
wasted when your speed
fluctuates. It’s especially
useful for driving over long
stretches, because it stops
your speed creeping up
unintentionally and
reduces the driver’s
physical workload.
Hill Hold Assist
Hill Hold Assist helps you
make a smooth, efficient
getaway, every time.
On steep inclines, the
system holds the brakes
at the optimum level
to prevent you
rolling back.
This reduces the
need for you to
rev the engine
unnecessarily.
How BlueMotion
Technology works to
lower your fuel bills
and CO 2
emissions
BlueMotion Technology is available on Caddy and Caddy Maxi
panel vans, and Caddy Maxi window van models, and is made
up of four clever elements. Together, they significantly reduce
fuel consumption and CO 2
emissions, which keeps money
in your pocket and creates fewer harmful emissions. Here
you can learn more about these elements and what they do.
Start/stop
Start/stop allows you
to save fuel at traffic
lights. When you stop,
put your van in neutral,
release the clutch and
the engine automatically
switches off, saving fuel
and reducing emissions.
When you’re ready to go,
depress the clutch and the
engine starts up again.
Energy
recuperation
When braking, energy
during deceleration is
wasted. Our energy
recuperation system uses
some of that momentum
to turn the alternator and
charge the battery. If the
battery is well-charged,
the engine has to do
less work turning the
alternator to keep it
topped up. This cuts
fuel use and emissions.
