After this open<strong>in</strong>g prayer and libation, musicians began to play the drums<br />
and other <strong>in</strong>struments, creat<strong>in</strong>g a slow and synchronized rhythm at the same<br />
slow tempo and cycle length. <strong>The</strong> elderly female dancers are positioned <strong>in</strong><br />
opposite areas, and they slowly move <strong>in</strong>to the dance ritual space <strong>in</strong> unison.<br />
<strong>The</strong> spiritual seriousness <strong>of</strong> the ritual is seen on the faces <strong>of</strong> participants as<br />
they blow whistles and shake rattles. Figure 2.0 captures dancers with their<br />
whistles and rattles dur<strong>in</strong>g the phase <strong>in</strong> which spirits are summoned. This<br />
formation cont<strong>in</strong>ues until a certa<strong>in</strong> energy level is achieved and a spiritual<br />
l<strong>in</strong>e is opened.<br />
