Development Office Now Mission Advancement
St. Joseph’s Academy has changed
the name of its Development Office to
the Mission Advancement Office. The
change reflects the Academy’s commitment
to ensuring that all work is undertaken
in support of the mission of the
Sisters of St. Joseph and the Academy.
The Mission Advancement staff
hosted several meetings this year to inform
the faculty and staff of the change.
Additionally, faculty and staff members
participated in a branding exercise toward
developing a new tagline or a short
phrase that best describes SJA.
In addition to the name change, the
Mission Advancement Office welcomed
two new members, Emily May Kline and
Elizabeth Sheets.
Kline, a 1999 graduate of St. Joseph’s
Academy, has been named the
Alumnae, Parents Participate in Call Nights
Amy Liou Schock and Francine Graphia, both members
of the class of 1983, reconnected with classmates during
Alumnae Annual Giving Call Nights in February.
The Mission Advancement Office
hosted the annual Call Nights on February
22-24 to raise financial support for
the Annual Giving Campaign. More than
20 alumnae and parents gathered in the
school library to make calls.

students; recruit and retain outstanding,
experienced faculty and staff; provide
smaller class sizes; and provide tuition assistance
to deserving students.
In three nights, callers made more
than 400 calls and received more than
$5,800 pledges. A Parents Annual Giving
Call Night in November raised $1,950 in
new pledges.

“This is a wonderful way to reconnect
with classmates while helping to raise important
funds all in support of our beloved
SJA,” Abadie said. “We had a fabulous
time while doing important work.”
Denise Heroman was equally excited.
“The Call Nights are not merely a request
for a donation; it is a request for participation,”
she said. “The caller reaches out

Samantha Bologna ’10 and Gabrielle
Bologna ’10; and great-granddaughter
Abigayle Young is a sophomore.
Cookie was a member of the
Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre
of Jerusalem, a lifetime member
of the Catholic Daughters, a volunteer
for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center,
a member of the Baton Rouge Bridge
Club and a life master of the American
Bridge Association.

Parents Annual Giving has raised more
than $120,000 since October; Alumnae
Annual Giving has raised more than
$77,000 since January. The Annual Giving
drive continues until June 30. All gifts
to SJA are tax deductible
