Licensure Renewal
The NC State Board of Education approved new standards for license
renewal on November 3, 2011. Teachers with licenses that expired on
June 30, 2012 should receive their new license by the end of August.
Teachers with expiring licenses this year (June 30, 2013) will receive a
print-out of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and an
accompanying letter in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, you can review your CEU history from a computer
within our school network. It’s simple. Just click here. You will receive
a Certificate Error because it is a Secure Website. Click on “Continue
to this website (not recommend) to proceed. You will need to submit
your social security number in order to lookup your CEU’s. Teachers
in grades K-12 need to address these areas:
Literacy Academic School Total
Executives
Teachers (K-12) 1 1 n/a 7.5
Administrators n/a n/a 3 7.5
Other Items to Remember:
Teaching experience is no longer included in this process.
Initial National Board Certification will grant 7.5 CEU’s for
individuals that complete the process.
Renewal of National Board Certification earns 2 CEU’s (one
for literacy and one for the academic area).
Beginning Teachers fall into a separate category than
veteran teachers. BT’s need to participate in Professional
Development activities, but they are not required to obtain a
certain number of CEUs.
Contact Dottie Wardsworth or Tracy Myrick if you have any
questions.
