The Year After...<br />
In August 2010, the Realtor ® Association of Greater Miami and the Beaches (RAMB) and the Realtor ®<br />
Association of Miami-Dade County (RAMDC) came together to form one organization. The “Miracle<br />
Merger,” the largest and fastest in the 100-year history of the National Association of Realtors, has greatly<br />
benefited the members, the real estate industry and local economy, and the buying and selling public. At<br />
the time of the merger, the newly formed MIAMI Association of Realtors ® (MIAMI) had 23,000 members,<br />
making it the largest local Realtor ® association in the nation. Three months later MIAMI merged with<br />
the Northwestern Association of REALTORS ® , increasing membership to 23,600 and marking the first time<br />
since the 1930’s that Realtors ® in Miami-Dade County were united under one organization.<br />
Together We Are Better!<br />
In the year following the historic merger, we have<br />
certainly lived up to the merger motto – “Together<br />
We Are Better!” MIAMI has provided South<br />
Florida Realtors with the most comprehensive<br />
and leading-edge marketing tools, services,<br />
education, resources, and advocacy to enhance<br />
their professionalism, success and profitability. The<br />
merger further strengthened the South Florida real<br />
estate market’s position as a world-class destination<br />
and expanded international opportunities, creating<br />
stronger demand for local properties.<br />
Membership Count<br />
MIAMI, larger than 39 state Realtor associations,<br />
continues to grow after the merger, as new<br />
and transferring agents take advantage of the<br />
association’s premier benefits. Since the merger<br />
MIAMI has grown to more than 25,600 members,<br />
including 6,000-plus in Broward County. The<br />
number of commercial members has increased by<br />
15 percent.<br />
Increased Member Savings<br />
& Benefits<br />
The merger benefitted all – members, consumers,<br />
the market, and the local business community.<br />
Members, in particular, received increased services<br />
along with savings in the form of merger credits<br />
applicable to dues billing. Members received $2.2<br />
million in merger credits in the first annual billings<br />
after the merger.<br />
“It’s all about the Members”<br />
The merger created the ideal business environment<br />
for Realtors in South Florida. Since the merger MIAMI<br />
Leaders – Corporate, Residential, Commercial, and<br />
Broward boards – remained focused on member<br />
needs at each of their meetings as the recurring<br />
theme became “It’s all about the members!” MIAMI<br />
offers members more than $31,000 in free premium<br />
tools and services. The association is committed<br />
to contracting for the best and most relevant tools<br />
and services available to enhance the business and<br />
opportunities of all members - at little or no cost.<br />
The “year after” brought major cost savings and<br />
new services to all MIAMI members including<br />
access to 3 Premium Tax Services, IMAPP, Realist<br />
and RPR as well as TerraflyPro for RealtorS ® and<br />
their websites. With the importance of international<br />
marketing to our members, major upgrades were<br />
added to create ProxioProProfessional which<br />
connects our members to 400,000 real estate<br />
professionals in 113 countries and is still offered<br />
free to all members. Moby was added to the list<br />
of services to help keep our MIAMI members safe,<br />
while Scout for SafeMLS added new security to the<br />
MIAMI MLS and was expanded to create the new<br />
MIAMI Gateway – one click access to premium<br />
services.<br />
Social media opportunities were increased for<br />
all MIAMI members with the launch of Previsite<br />
automatically converting MIAMI listings to videos on<br />
YouTube, tweets for Twitter and posting to a special<br />
Facebook page. As a holiday gift, MIAMI members<br />
all received SocialKandy free to enhance all their<br />
business Facebook pages with the MIAMI listings<br />
and more.<br />
CondoPlans.com was added as a premium exclusive<br />
service at no cost to our members and integrated<br />
into the MLS with major features, and later expanded<br />
to include a service for our members’ own websites.<br />
Forever mobile, our members need the best in<br />
mobile tools so services continued to be enhanced<br />
including adding ShowingAssist scheduling to Kurio<br />
– and training on iPad for Realtors ® , like using<br />
Kurio for MLS. (See pages 12 and 13 and inserts<br />
for more services.)<br />
Broward Expansion<br />
Following the merger, MIAMI increased its presence<br />
in Broward County, growing membership in<br />
Broward from 4,700 to more than 6,000 and still<br />
growing. MIAMI has two locations in Broward, one<br />
in Plantation and recently announced office in East<br />
Broward at the DCOTA office complex in Dania.
