Energy saving technology and other benefits<br />
The new generation of Vivanco chargers is equipped with <strong>com</strong>pact, low weight<br />
switched-mode power supplies. The power units do not just need up to 30% less<br />
power than standard power units with large transformers, but they are also so<br />
small that they can easily be integrated in the chargers. There is no longer any<br />
need to transport heavy additional power adapters.<br />
USB connections<br />
The Universal Serial Bus is today's standard connection between various devices<br />
and <strong>com</strong>puters. Because this connection can be used to transfer not just data but<br />
also energy, many devices, such as MP3 players, PDAs, mobile phones, navigation<br />
devices etc., can be supplied with power by the <strong>com</strong>puter.<br />
E.g. the integrated rechargeable batteries in a player are recharged when it is<br />
connected to a laptop. It is an obvious progression to also charge rechargeable<br />
batteries in chargers which can be connected to the <strong>com</strong>puter via USB. This way, an<br />
MP3 player can be quickly re-powered, if necessary, using a laptop. Vivanco chargers<br />
which can be charged via USB, have a 5V USB power input.<br />
Sometimes though, a device which charges via USB is left without power and no<br />
<strong>com</strong>puter is available. That's where mains adapters with a USB power output or<br />
chargers with and integrated USB charge adapter function can help. These devices<br />
output 5V when they are connected to the mains and not currently charging<br />
rechargeable batteries. They also have additional USB out sockets. The unique<br />
Vivanco CAR 3in1 Power Set also provides an emergency battery function,<br />
i.e. connected USB devices can be supplied with power from the rechargeable<br />
batteries inside the charger.<br />
