<strong>HKAR</strong>-<strong>145</strong> SECTION 1<br />

<strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.3 Effectivity<br />

(a)<br />

This <strong>HKAR</strong>-<strong>145</strong> was first issued on 1 February 1993 and became effective on that<br />

date with the exception of <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.1.<br />

(b) <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.1 came into force on 1 December 1995.<br />

A <strong>HKAR</strong>-<strong>145</strong> Approval may be issued by the Director-General of Civil Aviation<br />

(hereinafter referred as Director-General) prior to the paragraph (a) date.<br />

<strong>HKAR</strong>-<strong>145</strong> approved maintenance organisations that have or intend to have<br />

maintenance carried out under their quality system by another organisation in<br />

accordance with <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.1(b) or (c) must be in compliance with the limitations of<br />

<strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.1(e) after 31 May 2001.<br />

<strong>Organisations</strong> that carry out or intend to carry out maintenance of aircraft must be in<br />

compliance with <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.30(g)(1) and <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.30(g)(2) and <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.30(j),<br />

as appropriate, on or after 1 April 2004 but may choose to be partly or completely in<br />

compliance before this date.<br />

<strong>Organisations</strong> must be in compliance with <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.30(f) on or after 31 December<br />

2003.<br />

<strong>Organisations</strong> must be in compliance with amended <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.60 on or after 1 June<br />

2004.<br />

(h) <strong>Organisations</strong> must be in compliance with amended <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.30(e) on or after 1<br />

July 2005.<br />

(i) <strong>Organisations</strong> must be in compliance with <strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.47 on or after 1 June 2004.<br />

(j) <strong>Organisations</strong> shall implement a Safety Management System on 1 January 2009.<br />

<strong>HKAR</strong> <strong>145</strong>.5 Definitions<br />

(See GM <strong>145</strong>.5)<br />

For the purpose of this <strong>HKAR</strong>-<strong>145</strong> the following definitions shall apply:<br />

'Aircraft' means any machine that can derive support in the atmosphere from the reactions of<br />

the air other than reactions of the air against earth's surface.<br />

'Aircraft component' means any engine, propeller, part or appliance.<br />

'<strong>Approved</strong> by the Director-General' means approved by the Director-General directly or in<br />

accordance with a procedure approved by the Director-General.<br />
