MLAT System – The concept<br />
A number of antennas receive a signal from an aircraft or surface vehicle equipped<br />
with squitter device.<br />
Central processing unit calculates the vehicle position of the vehicle from the time<br />
difference of arrival (TDOA) of the signal at the different receivers.<br />
The TDOA between two antennas corresponds with an hyperboloid, a 3D surface.<br />
At least four antennas are required for a 3D position calculation.<br />
