Audiobooks - are abridged and unabridged<br />

versions of popular books on CD or<br />

cassettes. These are available in all<br />

branches for anyone to borrow. You can<br />

place holds for audiobooks.<br />

Talking <strong>Books</strong> – unabridged recordings of<br />

popular-interest fiction and nonfiction books,<br />

which have been read aloud. Talking books<br />

are available in DAISY format, Compact<br />

Discs or audiocassettes. You can use Talking<br />

<strong>Books</strong> if you have a perceptual disability that<br />

prevents or inhibits you from reading works<br />

in their original format (Section 32.1,<br />

Canadian Copyright Act).<br />

To borrow Talking <strong>Books</strong> you must fill out an<br />

application form, which you can get at your<br />

branch; on the web page<br />

or by calling Home <strong>Library</strong> Service at 416-<br />

395-5557. A professional authority, such as<br />

a doctor, nurse, therapist or social worker<br />

must certify your eligibility on the application<br />
