DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES:<br />
Arrival Activities:<br />
Technique class:<br />
Participants will arrive beginning at 9:00 a.m. The program will begin promptly.<br />
This will be a time for participants to sign in and attendance marked. Pre-class<br />
warm-up.<br />
Participants will practice basic <strong>Garth</strong> <strong>Fagan</strong> <strong>Dance</strong> floor and standing<br />
technique that provide the building blocks for <strong>Fagan</strong> technique. This class<br />
will prepare participants for their afternoon dance class in rep and<br />
composition. Participants will learn awareness, control and musicality while<br />
they practice basic <strong>Garth</strong> <strong>Fagan</strong> <strong>Dance</strong> technique and movements.<br />
For the 18 and over class, 2-3 years of dance experience is recommended but not<br />
required.<br />
Music Appreciation/Interpretation: Study of the classics in various genres with emphasis on Jazz.<br />
<strong>Dance</strong> Criticism with videos:<br />
Students will watch <strong>Fagan</strong> pieces and critique them.<br />
Composition:<br />
Repertory:<br />
Participants will learn basic tools used in creating choreography.<br />
Participants will incorporate the skills learned and practiced in technique classes.<br />
Students will also apply their notes from the morning dance class and viewings of GFD<br />
videos. For the 18 and over class, 2-3 years of dance experience is recommended but<br />
not required.<br />
Participants will learn movement from dances in <strong>Garth</strong> <strong>Fagan</strong> <strong>Dance</strong> Repertoire.<br />

Cultural Field Trips: Participants will experience firsthand the relationships amongst the arts to dance.<br />

Nazareth College <strong>Dance</strong> Festival: Lecture and Performance by <strong>Garth</strong> <strong>Fagan</strong> <strong>Dance</strong><br />
Thursday July 14th Nazareth College <strong>Dance</strong> Festival: Panel discussion with <strong>Garth</strong> <strong>Fagan</strong> and Bill T Jones<br />
Tuesday July 19th<br />
Albert Paley Studios: Learning the technique and of creating a work of art<br />
Classes traveling by chartered bus, lunch and discussion upon returning to GFD studios.<br />
Anatomy For <strong>Dance</strong>rs: Students will learn the unique strengths and weaknesses of the dancers body, the<br />
causes of common dance injuries and basic therapy for injury prevention and<br />
rehabilitation<br />
Yoga for dancers<br />
A class specifically designed for students studying <strong>Fagan</strong> Technique.<br />
Nutrition For <strong>Dance</strong>rs: A class for maintaining a healthy diet while keeping body fat percentage low.<br />
Performance skills class and Alternative Careers in <strong>Dance</strong>: Learning to go beyond the steps to achieve<br />
true artistry. Resume preparation, make-up, costuming, how to audition, Discussion of roles of Arts<br />
Administrators, Technical Director, costumer, physical therapist and others<br />
