Outstanding first event of the season. Eighteen cars
showed up for the Candi-Cross Rally and from the comments
I received, everybody had fun. They were a bit
surprised to discover that the Cross in the event name
didn’t really refer to the Crossword puzzles, but rather to
the middle section where she surprised everybody by
throwing in a five control Monte Carlo section where we
subjected everybody to real timing. A little sneaky, but
everybody got through it with decent scores and it made
for a good tiebreaker which was rallymaster Candi
Pope’s intent.
Our second event is this Saturday and I hope that our
turnout will be as good. Julie and Bill Partridge have
put a lot of effort into the event and have extended their
hospitality by having the event end at their home for a
cookout. We look forward to seeing you there.
Last month I reported that the National Rally weekend
for August is on schedule. Since then we have filed
the official sanction request with Denver and delivered the
first draft of the General Instructions to our RRB Liaison.
He made a suggestion for possible qualified pre-checkers
for the event and I am happy to report that these local individuals
have graciously accepted the invitation. We will
need a lot of help putting this event on. We need at least
twenty-eight (28) people for each day. If you can only
give us one day, we will take it with full appreciation. If
you can give us both days you will receive our appreciation
and undying gratitude. Please start letting me know
if you can help, and which days. The dates are Saturday
Aug. 17 and Sunday Aug. 18.
I slipped out to California to run the Highway Robbery
National Course Rally last Saturday and embarrassed
myself. The roads and the countryside where really wonderful.
The concept of the event was executed brilliantly.
I just bought to many of the traps with the result that I finished
third in Class and last overall. But I learned a great
deal. Next month Dan Cook and I are going to team up
again and go out to Oregon for another long weekend that
features a Tour event and a Course event similar to our
August weekend. I have been to Oregon on business,
and I am really looking forward to exploring the mountains.

Entry forms for this event are the ABCN version for those of you who picked up
the forms packet at Rally School. For others, the form will be available on the
web site shortly and you are encouraged to fill it out before arriving at the event.
