BUSINESS<br />
CALL FOR ELECTIONS<br />
<strong>The</strong> membership is hereby notified that elections will be held in the spring<br />
of 2008 for the following National KWVA positions:<br />
President, First Vice President and Second Vice President for<br />
the year 2008-2010.<br />
<strong>The</strong> offices of four Directors for the years of 2008-2011.<br />
No later than February 15, 2008 any regular members in good<br />
standing of the <strong>Korean</strong> <strong>War</strong> <strong>Veterans</strong> <strong>Association</strong> (KWVA) seeking<br />
to run for any of the aforementioned offices shall make their intentions<br />
known to the Chairman of the Nominating Committee, Tom<br />
McHugh, in writing, using the following format:<br />
Requirements:<br />
A. Must present proof of service by submitting a separate signed<br />
Official Membership Application Form showing eligible service<br />
years and a statement releasing the application form for verification<br />
by the Nominating Committee (no fee required)<br />
B. Must present a current photograph suitable for publication in <strong>The</strong><br />
Graybeards.<br />
C. Must submit a letter with the following:<br />
1) Your intent to run for an office and the office sought.<br />
2) A resume of your qualifications for this office, stating any experience<br />
that will be of benefit to the <strong>Association</strong>.<br />
3) Your current mailing address, telephone number and KWVA<br />
membership number.<br />
4) This letter will be limited to approximately one typed page.<br />
5) A statement that you will attend all called meetings of the Board<br />
of Directors and that you understand that two unexcused absences<br />
could be used for your removal from office.<br />
D. You must sign a statement that your dues are current through the<br />
whole term of the office that you are seeking.<br />
Payment of delinquent dues shall not be retroactive for the<br />
purpose of establishing eligibility to run for office within the<br />
<strong>Association</strong>.<br />
E. Send the above items by certified mail, return receipt requested,<br />
to the Nominating Committee Chairman not later than February<br />
15, 2008.<br />
Nominees are requested to contact the Nominating Committee<br />
Chairman if they have any questions.<br />

<strong>The</strong> process is as follows: <strong>The</strong> Nominating Committee certifies<br />
the candidates that are qualified to stand for office. <strong>The</strong> declarations<br />
are sent to the Editor of <strong>The</strong> Graybeards for publication in the March-<br />
April edition. <strong>The</strong> ballots are also published in that edition. Members<br />
then cast their ballots by June 10th. A CPA then counts the ballots and<br />
reports the results to the Nominating Committee.<br />

U<br />
.S. soldiers in Korea are now able to watch a 20-minute documentary<br />
about the spiritual meaning of the U.S.-Korea Alliance. Leaders<br />
of patriotic organizations have presented 3,000 DVD copies of the documentary<br />
Unite Us in Thy Righteousness, sponsored and produced by<br />
Kumnan Methodist Church in Seoul and the Save North Korea<br />
Foundation. <strong>The</strong> presentation was made on June 26 to General B. B. Bell,<br />
in his offices at the Combined Forces Command in Yongsan, Seoul.<br />
General B. B. Bell, US/UN/CFC Commander and Chaplain<br />
(Col) Samuel Boon, accepted the donation of the DVDs from <strong>The</strong><br />
Bishop Dr. Kim Hong-Do, Senior Pastor of the Kumnan Church,<br />
the world's largest Methodist Church, and Dr. Kim Sang-chul, Save<br />
North Korea Chairman. Louis Dechert, President of the <strong>Korean</strong><br />
<strong>War</strong> <strong>Veterans</strong> <strong>Association</strong> (USA), Chaplain Boon and Reverend<br />
Kim Chang-Bom, Secretary-General of Save North Korea, also<br />
participated in the ceremony. <strong>The</strong> Kumnan Church and the Save<br />
North Korea Foundation are also donating 17,000 copies of the<br />
DVD to the members of KWVA/USA.<br />
Chairman Kim Sang-chul stressed the importance of the U.S.-<br />
Korea Alliance and confirmed <strong>Korean</strong>'s strong friendship to the<br />
U.S. as shown in the national convention (rally) of Save North<br />
Korea on June 6.<br />
Bishop Kim Hong-do said that Korea would never forget the<br />
help of the U.S.<br />
General Bell said the U.S. troops would not be pulled out of<br />
Korea under any circumstances and that the documentary would<br />
enhance the military spirit of the U.S. Forces in Korea. <strong>The</strong> DVDs<br />
will be distributed to soldiers through the chaplain's office of each<br />
unit.<br />
Dues Increase Coming For Associate Members<br />
Membership Dues for Associate members will increase as<br />
approved by the Board of Directors at their meeting on July 25,<br />
2007 and as approved by the General Membership on October<br />
25, 2007.<br />
<strong>The</strong> dues for Associate Members for 2008 will be $16.00.<br />
September-October 2007<br />
<strong>The</strong> Graybeards
