Special and Retrospective Collections <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2006</strong><br />
The Special and Retrospective Collections of the <strong>Law</strong> Library<br />
make it the leading common law research collection in<br />
Canada, with outstanding depth in Canadian legal materials<br />
through 1980. The library’s rich collection extends beyond<br />
statutes, reports, treatises and scholarly monographs, to<br />
books of practice, biographical material on lawyers and<br />
judges, government inquiries, printed trials, and journalistic<br />
materials from all periods of Canadian law. The library’s<br />
United Kingdom and Irish material is also the best in Canada,<br />
including virtually complete collections of Nominative<br />
<strong>Report</strong>s from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries<br />
and a substantial number of subsequent series, very full<br />
holdings of periodicals, outstanding collections of books of<br />
practice for the last three centuries, and printed trials,<br />
parliamentary papers and a wide range of other original and<br />
scholarly materials on English, Irish, and Scottish law. The<br />
library also holds much retrospective material published in<br />
