QRO <str<strong>on</strong>g>August</str<strong>on</strong>g> 2011 Page 12 PVARC Public Service Report RHE “Hills Are Alive 10K/5K” Recap On Saturday, 14 <str<strong>on</strong>g>August</str<strong>on</strong>g>, many operators provided radio communicati<strong>on</strong>s for <strong>the</strong> 30 th Rolling Hills Estates 10K & 5K event. There were over 400 runners for <strong>the</strong> two events; a couple of runners had ankle issues during <strong>the</strong> run, but <strong>the</strong>y were OK. This event takes place almost entirely <strong>on</strong> horse trails in Rolling Hills Estates, plus <strong>on</strong>e mile of paved road through <strong>the</strong> Botanical Gardens and a dirt road in <strong>the</strong> Land Fill. The horse trails make <strong>the</strong> “sweeper” functi<strong>on</strong> a bit of a challenge which Melody, KI6SPA, and Richard, KJ6CBA, handled for us <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir horses.
