Part 3—<strong>Building</strong> Permits<br />

(3) A building permit lapses if the building work<br />

authorised by that permit has not commenced or is<br />

not completed within the periods specified in subregulation<br />

(1).<br />

(4) The relevant building surveyor may extend the<br />

period within which any building work is required<br />

to be commenced or completed under subregulation<br />

(1) prior to the lapse of the permit if the<br />

relevant building surveyor considers that the<br />

extent of the building work warrants an extension.<br />

316. Applicant to make documents, permit available<br />

An applicant for a building permit must provide a<br />

copy of the permit <strong>and</strong> one set of any approved<br />

plans, specifications <strong>and</strong> documents relating to<br />

that permit to the person who is in charge, or is to<br />

be in charge, of carrying out the building work,<br />

unless that person is the applicant.<br />

317. Provision <strong>and</strong> display of permit information<br />

(1) A person who is in charge of the carrying out of<br />

building work on an allotment must take all<br />

reasonable steps to ensure that a copy of the<br />

building permit <strong>and</strong> one set of any approved plans,<br />

specifications <strong>and</strong> documents relating to that<br />

permit are available for inspection at the allotment<br />

concerned while the building work for which the<br />

building permit was issued is in progress.<br />

Penalty: 10 penalty units.<br />

(2) A person who is in charge of the carrying out of<br />

building work on an allotment must—<br />

(a) take all reasonable steps to ensure that—<br />

(i) the registration numbers <strong>and</strong> contact<br />

details of the builder <strong>and</strong> building<br />

surveyor; <strong>and</strong><br />
