PART 3—AMENDMENT OF THE CORRECTIONS ACT 1986
7. Photographing and fingerprinting
(1) In section 3(1) of the Corrections Act 1986,
before the definition of "function" insert—
' "fingerprints" includes finger, palm, toe and
sole prints, whether taken by impression or
by means of a device to obtain a record of
the fingerprints;
Example: Fingerprints may be taken by a scanning device
to obtain a digital record of the fingerprints.'.

(2) In section 11(7A) of the Corrections Act 1986,
for "must" substitute "may".
(3) In section 28(1) of the Corrections Act 1986, for
"must" substitute "may".
(4) In section 28(2) of the Corrections Act 1986,
after "photographs of the prisoner" insert "or take
the prisoner's fingerprints or both".
(5) In section 99(1) of the Corrections Act 1986, for
"must take photographs of the offender"
substitute "may take photographs of the offender
and may take the offender's fingerprints".
(6) In section 99(2) of the Corrections Act 1986,
after "photographs of the offender" insert "or take
the offender's fingerprints or both".
(7) In section 99(3) of the Corrections Act 1986,
after "photographs" insert "and fingerprints".
