of best practice. In line with the
principle of learning from the best,
TUI Deutschland has, in cooperation
with ITC, organised two environmental
conferences focusing on energy
savings for around 200 hoteliers on
the Canary Islands.

In addition to making sure that
our guests have a wonderful stay
with us it is the primary aim of

our environmental activities.
Active environmental management
is an important quality factor for
Seaside Hotels, because targeted
environmental protection can also
make a contribution to improving
the products and services we offer.
Our guests are informed about this
environmental concept at the hotels
in varying ways, for example by messages
on the notice board or in personal
conversations with our staff.
In order to increase their awareness
of environmental protection our
employees receive comprehensive
information and training. Among
other factors this is also reflected in
the selection of our suppliers.
Every year TUI organises environmental
conferences in a number of countries
under the title ”By hoteliers –
for hoteliers”. These provide a forum

Contec“ brand was launched on
Gran Canaria and Teneriffe. The

interested parties an on-the-spot
check.
The focal point of the energy conferences
in Gran Canaria and Tenerife
was on saving energy. Do we save
energy simply because it improves
profitability or because we are convinced
that it’s the right thing to do?
There was a round-table discussion
of this question between the TUI
sustainability management team and
representatives of hotel companies,
associations and politicians.
Ms Rocío Cibrán, Director of the
Seaside Palm Beach hotel, gave an
address at both conferences on the
subject of ”Saving energy at the
Seaside Hotels”.
