Significant production advantages within a month
FOREST Contracts has been producing
contract furniture for
over 30 years, supplying the
hotel industry, private hospitals,
offices and businesses, as
well as using its commercial experience
to design, supply and
install the very best in domestic
kitchens and bedrooms. Forest

In response to winning a large
order to supply glass-centred four
piece sliding doors, designed for
wardrobe and bathroom pods for
hotel rooms, Forest Contracts recently
acquired a clamp and radio
frequency gluesetter from
Lamont. An RF gluesetter will set
glue in seconds, significantly faster
than air drying times.
Forest Contracts’ buyer, Mark
Saunders, was asked to research
the market for a solution. Mark’s
verdict was that “the Lamont system
came up trumps”.
He continues, “I understand that
Lamont has been around a long
time and is a very experienced company.
I spoke to Alan Lamont directly
and dealt with him all the way
through. He offered a good product,
and was prepared to help me

The equipment has offered significant
time savings in gluing while
at the same time freeing up space
that would have been required for
clamping, thereby offering significant
production advantages within
a month of being installed.
Mark Saunders told PW&SS that
an initial run of 112 glass centred
four-piece sliding doors was already
in production, with work on
a further 188 due to start shortly.
The equipment has proved so useful
that it is sure to be utilised for
other projects, he added.
Mark would have no hesitation
in recommending it to others.

A MAJOR campaign to highlight
the importance of the wood industry
was launched in Brussels
recently.
Representatives from organisations
involved in the wood processing
sector across Europe met
to launch a new “Wood Action
Day” aimed at drawing attention
to how the continent’s wood resources
are used.
Key topics of discussion at the
conference organised by the European
Panel Federation and European
Organisation of the Sawmill
Industry included how Europe can
be made a greener place using
wood. To coincide with the event
hundreds of politicians across Europe
received specially crafted
wooden gifts to demonstrate the
value of using trees to create
beautiful, useful things that store
carbon for decades.
Wood and wood-based products
satisfy a myriad of applications,
support more than two
million jobs and contribute almost
€2 billion to European economies
every year. Planting and using just
4% more wood would sequester
an additional 150 million tonnes
of CO2 each year, reducing Europe’s
overall emissions.
The UK was represented at the
conference by the Wood Panel Industries
Federation, which represents
industries that use wood to
make materials such as MDF for
furniture and chipboard and OSB
for flooring and roofing — and
whose members include some of
the country’s biggest employers in
the wood sector.

Industries Federation said: “We
were delighted to be able to play a
part in the concerted action being
taken by the European wood industry
to protect a vital resource
and economic driver. It’s important
that as many people as possible
are made aware of the benefits
of wood in the economy and from
an environmental point of view.”
